Our teaching in Reception forms the foundation of our whole school curriculum skills progression and our teaching of the National Curriculum content and skills in Years 1-6. In Reception, we teach and learn in as cross-curricular and concrete way as possible, often through real life experience and themes based on books and the children’s interests.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework to plan, teach and assess progress across the three prime areas of learning (communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development) and the four specific areas of learning (literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design).
