Our School’s Residential Trips: Developing Character & Faith

At Hampstead Parochial, we believe in the power of experiential learning. Our residential trips are designed not only to offer exciting experiences but also to help develop our students’ personal growth and understanding of Christian values. These trips offer opportunities for Year 5 and Year 6 students to bond, learn, and grow, all while living out our Christian vision of “To live life in all its fullness.”

Year 5: Pilgrimage to Canterbury

This year, our Year 5 students will embark on a special pilgrimage to Canterbury, one of the most historically significant cathedral cities in the UK. Named after their class, Canterbury provides the perfect backdrop for spiritual growth and reflection. During this pilgrimage, students will visit the iconic Canterbury Cathedral, engage in prayer, and explore the deep Christian history of the area.

The pilgrimage offers students a unique opportunity to deepen their faith, learn about the significance of pilgrimage in Christianity, and reflect on the spiritual journey. With a focus on prayer, reflection, and learning, this journey will help students develop a greater understanding of the Christian values of love, service, and community. It will also strengthen their connection to the Church and the Diocese, allowing them to appreciate the historical and spiritual significance of cathedral cities.

Year 6: PGL Adventure at Marchants Hill

In March, our Year 6 students embark on an exciting adventure to PGL Marchants Hill, an outdoor activity centre in Surrey. This trip is an essential part of our curriculum and offers a range of team-building exercises that encourage resilience, leadership, and cooperation. The activities allow students to step out of their comfort zones, take responsibility, and support each other in ways that encourage their personal development.

In line with our Christian values, the trip is designed to foster a sense of community, compassion, and trust. Students engage in meaningful discussions about their experiences and reflect on how they can live out their faith through their actions and interactions with others.

Our Christian Vision: Living Life in All Its Fullness

Our residential trips reflect our deep commitment to nurturing children’s growth in line with our Christian values. Through these experiences, we strive to inspire students to embrace life with purpose, faith, and joy. By encouraging our children to engage with new experiences, reflect on their actions, and support one another, we help them grow in character and spirit.

As we continue to live out our Christian vision, we seek to ensure that every child has the opportunity to live life in all its fullness—discovering their strengths, building friendships, and growing in faith.
